November 18, 2016 Gifts for Runners
I happened upon a couple cool gifts for runners at the Gone for a Run online store. The first is a runner’s bib album. This resembles a scrapbook, but it is just the size of a runner’s bib. You can purchase plastic sleeves to put the bibs in. It becomes a keepsake of all the races the runner has been in. They have many different styles, but I love the ones you can customize with the recipient’s picture. The second gift I love is a race medal display. You can attach it to the wall and keep adding medals after each race. This can also be customized with a picture, name, or phrase.

November 11, 2016 Classic Home Portrait
Do you remember the house you grew up in? The address? How it looked from the outside? The details of your room and places where your family gathered? A home is an important part of a person’s life. It is where memories are created and more than shelter, it provides a sense of belonging there. Just as you can have individual and family pictures taken over the years to remember those moments in time, now you can have an artist draw a classic home portrait of your home.
Phil Thompson hand makes these classic home portraits in Chicago, Illinois. You simply send a picture or two of the home you want him to draw. The portraits are created in pen and ink. The drawings are 8” x 10” and come matted to 11” x 14”.

September 30, 2016 Precious Metal Prints
There are a few things that are completely unique to a person – their DNA, their signature, their fingerprints. Precious Metal Prints takes one of your most unique features – your fingerprint – and turns it into unique pieces of jewelry.
It starts with buying a kit from them. When the kit arrives with complete instructions, you take a print of the fingerprint (or pet nose) that you want to preserve. After the clay has dried, you send it back to them in the box they provide. They then create a charm or cufflink made of gold or silver. You will receive it back in 2-4 weeks from their studio in Tennessee.
In addition to the one-of-a-kind print on your piece, they will stamp up to 3 initials on the other side of the pendant.

September 23,2016 License Plate Signs
Some people save their license plates to remember the states they lived in and vehicles they drove. Other people collect them and turn them into license plate signs. I ran across this clever, customizable gift online. Using old license plates, they cut apart each letter and number and reuse them to spell out words and sayings in a piece of art that is unique and original.
The numbers and letters are attached to a board which has a picture hanger on the back. The boards can be customized by color and the sign itself can have up to 28 letters. You can request a name, date, or saying for your license plate signs.
For more information on license plate signs, go here.
September 9, 2016 Wood From the Hood

July 1, 2016 Let them Eat Candles
When the creator of Let Them Eat Candles saw the wax dripping on her son’s beautiful birthday cake, she knew there had to be a better way. Out of that experience, she developed edible chocolate candles. The wick is a wax covered cotton and shouldn’t be eaten, but you can easily pull it out or eat around it.
Because these are high-end candles, they come in packages of 3 to represent past present and future. They don’t recommend using one candle per year. They prefer to promote quality over quantity when it comes to birthday candles.
They have dark, milk, and white chocolate candles. Each has a design on them. You can also get customized candles with corporate logos or wedding monograms for special occasions.

You simply write it down on the paper, roll it up, stand it on end and then light it and watch it fly away. It is safe. April 1, 2016 Sinking Feeling Coffee Mug
This isn’t the kind of gift that is tender and appreciative. The sinking mug is more of a silly, catch your attention and make people laugh kind of gift. Since it is April Fool’s Day, I’m featuring this as a great gag gift. Have you ever had “that sinking feeling?” This sinking feeling coffee mug is a play on that feeling. The mug itself holds 8 ounces, but it looks as though half of it has sunk into the surface it is sitting on.

March 25, 2016 Applause Box
Have you ever wanted to give recognition to someone? Maybe you need to recognize a client or a team member for achieving something. Sometimes recognition is given publicly, but sometimes it’s a quiet, more personal recognition.
I LOVE this Box of Applause from Signals. It is a nice looking wooden box that when opened gives a round of applause and cheering. They have the option to add an engraved message of one to four lines for an additional charge. This box looks classy enough to sit out on a formal desk.
Office Playground carries an Applause Button that is a little more obvious and a bit less expensive, depending on your tastes and budget. It is bright red and stands out more than the box, but still gives a round of applause whenever the button is pushed.
For more information on applause gifts, go here.

Some of the books come with a DVD that has the video on it. The books are all short reads. You can consume each one in one sitting. They are filled with many beautiful pictures and few words that deliver a highly inspirational message.
You will probably recognize some of the Simple Truths authors: Zig Ziglar, John C. Maxwell, Brian Tracy and others. Some of the books are just collections of famous quotes, while others weave an inspirational story. Many of the prints take their quotes from one of the books in the collection. Some of them have a theme like risk, faith, gratitude or goals.

February 19, 2016 The Comfort Company
When someone loses a loved one there is a strong desire to keep their memory alive. The person may be gone, but their family does not want them to be forgotten. The Comfort Company specializes in gifts at the time of a loss. Their website is filled with appropriate gifts. My favorites are ones that create a permanent way to remember the loved one who has passed.

It could be filled with small candies or a piece of jewelry.
Recipients of the gift could use it to hold jewelry, as a paperweight, or simply a decorative piece on a shelf. It is a unique piece that makes an impression on the recipient.

February 5, 2016 I See Me
I LOVE anything that you can personalize. These books caught my eye years ago. I have a childhood memory of a book that had my name in it. I loved that book. It felt special to me. Technology has made it possible to do this in a much more professional looking product. These books look as if 1,000 copies were made of each one even though each is unique. They have many different book options for boys, girls, babies and bigger kids. I bought them for my nephews a few years ago.

In my house, we have a TON of water bottles. They spill out of our cupboards. I don’t NEED anymore. BUT this water bottle has a twist to it that I have never seen before. Yes, it’s BPA free and dishwasher safe. (Thank you! I’m so tired of hand washing the special mouth pieces!) The HidrateSpark bottle keeps track of how much water you drink and connects to your phone. The bottle even GLOWS when you fall behind and need to drink more.
Seriously — A smart water bottle that tells you when you need to drink? That’s a big step towards your goal of drinking more water or being healthier this year.

January 8, 2016 Bombas
I first saw Bombas socks on Shark Tank. I was so impressed I gave some to my sister-in-law, who is a runner. Bombas socks have research and technology behind them. They have several special features that make them ideal for athletic performance and comfort.
- Long staple Peruvian Pima Cotton (warm in the winter, cool in the summer, moisture wicking)
- Performance Footbed (reinforced on the bottom without being bulky)
- Stay up technology (no slouchy socks)
- Blister tab (prevents rubbing on your ankles)
- Y stitched heel (natural cup around your heel instead of a straight line)
- Honeycomb support system (extra support in the arch)
- Invisitoe (no uncomfortable, bulky toe seams)
I may have sold you on how awesome these socks are, but it gets better. The founders discovered that socks were the number one most requested clothing item at homeless shelters. So they decided to do something about it. The company’s give back program donates a pair of socks for every pair purchased.

January 1, 2016 Frego
Frego is a safe food storage solution. It is free from harmful plastics, but safe enough to put in the lunchbox of an elementary school boy. Although a food storage container may sound more like a wedding gift than a client gift, it could be the perfect gift for your clients. If you are in a health and wellness industry – nutrition consultant, weight loss coach, personal trainer – this would be a great gift for your clients. It reinforces healthy living and portion control.
