This container of cheeseballs is one of the funny things you can send in the mail.
When I walked past the giant container of cheeseballs at the store, I knew I had to try mailing it. It was big, self-contained, and in a hard plastic container. But who would appreciate that volume of cheeseballs? Clearly this was meant for my son at college living in an apartment of 6 guys in their late teens and early 20s. College guys would appreciate funny things you can send in the mail.
I attached a mailing label on one side and a message on the other side. When I showed up at the post office, the new mail clerk said, “I’ve never mailed anything like this before.” I assured him that if he got to know me, he would see a lot more funny things you can send in the mail.
Sending the 28 oz. container from Minnesota to Idaho cost $11.65 in postage. The cheeseballs themselves cost under $5. Even though the postage was more than the product, I made a HUGE impact for around $15.
The cheeseballs were set to arrive during Finals Week. I put a message on the package that said, “Good luck on finals. Have a BALL your last week!”
Here are some ways you could use a container of cheeseballs:
- “Have a ball.”
- “I hope this doesn’t sound cheesy, but . . . “
- As an attention getter to someone you’ve been trying to get in the door with. No one can ignore a giant container of cheeseballs!
- “You might think I’m a total cheeseball for sending this, but . . .”
- Send them to someone for National Cheeseball Day on April 17th!
- “Say cheese!”
I wasn’t sure how secure the lid would be. It was only held on by a small plastic strip. My son reported that when the container arrived it was in good condition and most importantly – no cheeseballs were harmed in the mailing of this package! He was definitely surprised and he and his roommates ‘had a ball’ finishing off the container before they moved out for the semester.
How about you? Do you know someone you could send cheeseballs to? Do you have other ideas for funny things you can send in the mail?
